About The First Tick
The First Tick is a pre-market intelligence brief, delivered every trading morning before the bell. It's built for traders, operators, and anyone who wants to understand what the market is reacting to before the session begins.
What the Brief is
The First Tick is structured commentary, not a recommendation service. Each issue covers a single significant development in depth, alongside the themes, catalysts, sector movements, macro releases, capital flow signals (M&A, funding, regulatory shifts), and earnings results shaping the next session. The goal is second-order understanding — not headlines, but what the headlines imply.
The Brief is generated through a private analytical platform that aggregates and synthesizes market data, earnings releases, SEC filings, analyst notes, and macro indicators. Every issue is reviewed and finalized before publication. The platform is proprietary; the editorial output is the product.
Who writes it
Mike, based in New York. The First Tick is built on a private analytical platform he developed — Claude-driven research workflows integrated with brokerage data, SEC filings, fundamental data, and market sources, with a structured editorial and validation process before publication. He came to markets through systems-building rather than a trading desk; The First Tick is the daily distillation of what that platform sees before the bell.
